A HAND FORGED WROUGHT IRON WHALING BOARDING FLENSING CLEAVER C. 19TH CENTURY
An incredibly heavy cleaver used for the precarious and dangerous job of flensing a whale for its oil. Beautifully preserved, with a sharp cutting edge and a long handle finished with a bent eyelet for hanging. One can only imagine the journeys this piece has been on.
