Item: 125
An iron throwing Sword from the Sara People of Chad. Retains original inverted F formation with tribal markings. One side is convex with bevelled edges, the other side is plain.
Four to seven of these were carried into battle over the warriors shoulders or more often hidden in loops behind shields. Thrown in a rotatory motion similar to a boomerang from 30 feet away. These were also given in a dowry to a brides family and were considered status symbols.
Very good condition - some mild tarnishing and pitting commensurate with age.
